New Zealand sheep farmer Brian Beuke's farm has been in the family since the 1800s. The 370 hectare property is tucked into the small settlement of Neudorf, near the top of the South Island city of Nelson. It's a lush and idyllic setting that Brian, his wife Sharon and their four children have enjoyed for many years. Rather than carry on in the same vein however, Brian has veered into a new area that takes advantage of the resources to hand and brings a stimulating new edge to farming. After around thirty years in traditional farming of sheep for wool and meat, Brian decided to branch out. His challenging venture is Neudorf Dairy, which has been built directly on the farm and was launched in 2005. It now produces a range of sheep milk cheeses that are sweeping in awards and winning over cheese lovers throughout the country.
