Matt Ridley's latest book An Alpaca Alphabet was born out of the author's own experiences of wading through alpaca jargon and mystique over the past ten years. "When we started in alpacas we, of course, knew nothing at all," says Matt Ridley of Blaydon Alpacas. "It has taken many years to work out what alpaca people are talking about. They don't necessarily mean to talk alpaca shorthand, but in fact they do, and newcomers have to constantly ask questions, or put their own interpretation on conversations with the old hands.
