Farming in 'a sunburnt land of droughts and flooding rains' is never going to be easy and climate change will probably make matters worse. Cameron and Teresa Tubby run a 8000 ha mixed farm north of Mullewa, WA. The average rainfall of 325mm encompasses many very dry years and a few very wet years. Following two consecutive years of drought in 2009 he applied for and won a Nuffield Scholarship to study alternative farming systems for semi arid climates.
