摘要

TRANSFUSION has a weU-established, continuing interest in maintaining its leadership in publishing manuscripts covering the molecular biology of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in the topic area of blood group genomics. Papers in this section also include development of new assays and the application of genomic science to the practice of transfusion medicine, and these are currently accepted as original articles or brief reports. With the increasing number of allele variations (single-nucleotide polymorphisms [SNPs]) identified that are associated with weak or altered antigen expression or with new antigens, antibody production by patients, or nucle-otide changes that impact assay performance or interpretation, we recognize the growing need to document these in the literature. However, many of the observations associated with new alleles or antigens do not require full-length research reports.
