BACKGROUNDTherapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is a proven treatment for thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) characterized by severe ADAMTS13 deficiency, but the efficacy of TPE in suspected TTP with an ADAMTS13 activity level of more than 10% remains controversial.
