A root-knot resistant cultivar of bidi tobacco, Anand Bidi Tobacco 10 (ABT 10), was developed through pedigree method of breeding from a cross [ BC_1 F_2 {(GT 5)~2 x 103-9-101} x BC_1 F_2 {(GT 5)~2 x Bhavya } 2-10 ]. The plant is erect, medium staturewith fairly round medium thick stem and shy suckering habit. Cured leaves are parrot green, thicker than GT 5 with higher nicotine and reducing sugars than A 119 and GT 5 as well as better smoke taste than GT 5. The cultivar has yield potential of about 3000 kg/ ha with an average yield of 2697 kg/ha in nematode sick soil at BTRS, Anand. It is highly resistant to root-knot nematodes [Meloidogyne incognita & M. javanica) both in nursery and main field
