CIGRE Presents 41st Biennial Session

Paris will again host the world's largest international conference on high-voltage electric systems. MAJOR STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN THE LAST TWO DECADES HAVE CAUSED UTILITIES WORLDWIDE TO MOVE AWAY FROM STATE-REGULATED STATUS to private enterprises, causing industry- and state-appointed regulators to deal with unique problems linked to business competition, market forces and the unbundling of generation, transmission and distribution. These and other key issues of the electric power industry will be addressed at the International Council on Large Electric Systems' (CIGRE's) 41st General Session, being held in Paris Aug. 27-Sept. 1, 2006. CIGRE's membership has a wealth of technical knowledge and industry experience, which will be shared with attendees of the show, to influence and guide the institutions and decision makers responsible for the legislation and policies on energy issues.
