New Zealand Raises System Reliability

Westpower analysis reveals that a mobile substation is a key factor to reducing outage indices. The electricity industry in New Zealand is focused on improving system reliability as measured by the reduction of two key fault outage indices, namely the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) and the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI). A regulatory environment is in place to encourage continual improvement in the area of supply reliability.
