Evaluating benzene emissions during casting of aluminum and iron

For the past few years there has been much discussion concerning the emissions of seacoal and seacoal supplements as a result of the metalcasting process when iron castings have been produced. This investigation reviews the effect of grinding seacoal to differing specifications (coarse, medium and fine) and their resulting emissions during the production of iron castings. In addition, this study also reviews the emissions that would occur when aluminum castings are produced in various molding media.
