It's one of the remarkable things about Australia is that whilst most of our manufacturing has gone overseas, we still have a flourishing alloy trailer boat industry. We also have a flourishing manufacture base in fast alloy ferries - but that's another story. However, the point I want to make here is that because our home 'tinnie' boat market is so strong we don't see a lot of import challengers in the alloy market. Part of the reason for this is that alloy boats in the US are proportionally not aspopular as fibreglass craft and what 'tinnies' they have are strongly geared to inland lake boating, hence fairly low-sided. Recently, I had the chance to test one of these US 'tinnies.' It's the Crestliner 1700 Super Hawk, from the Crestliner brand that's one of the best US tinnie boat brands.
