Construction of Long Span Reinforced Concrete Beams

Casting of long span reinforced concrete beams with large sections may produce considerable difficulties to the in-situ construction process, especially when the construction is supported on the base of quite limited capacities. Experience acquired from casting a reinforced concrete beam of nominal span 36 m is elucidated. Accordingly, the techniques for conducting such kind of heavy constructions are discussed, which leads to some general recommendations for handling the similar challenging works.
