China High-grade Cigarette Paper Production Expands Rapidly

Today the production of high-grade cigarette paper in China has actually entered a period of "explosion", with large-scale projects of high-grade cigarette paper production approved one after another. On July 16, 2006, a grand foundation-laying ceremony was held to start theconstruction of China Tobacco Mauduit (Jiangmen) Paper Co., Ltd. with a RMB806 million (US101 million dollar) investment. It was reported that this project is a joint venture funded by China National Tobacco Corporation and Schweitzer-Mauduit International (China). Mauduit Paper Co., part of SchweitzerrMauduit International Group of the United States has been making cigarette paper in southern France for over 150 years since 1855. It is the largest cigarette paper enterprise using the most advanced production technologies in the world.
