TPE development meet special requirements of consumer product applications

TPEs bring unique benefits to consumer products and are now widely used in such applications. As one of the most diversified markets for plastics and elastomers, consumer products present TPEs with challenging requirements that vary widely from one application to the next, so that what is critical for food-contact housewares is irrelevant for power-tool grips, which in turn have their own demanding criteria. This article examines considerations for the successful use of TPEs in selected consumer applications and discusses recent innovations that address them.
