Silicones to fight foam

The use of wetting agents in coatings formulations is typical in order to ensure good coverage during highspeed printing processes or when using low energy substrates such as plastic foils. As surfactants, these wetting agents will also inevitably stabilise any foam generated during the coating manufacture or application. This is of particular concern in aqueous systems, where the wetting agents are used at typically higher levels than in solventborne systems and foam is a common occurrence.
