A healthy supply of young recruits is essential for the long-term future of any vintage hobby, and old tractors are no exception. Eleven-year-old Douglas Bennie from Lenzie near Glasgow has taken the bull by the horns, and already has four popular veterans to his name. According to father Richard, his son was tractor daft even when he was a toddler. He said: "He first caught the bug when I used to keep a herd of Highland cattle in my spare time. To help me feed them during the winter, I acquired an old David Brown 880 with a loader. Douglas used to come along to keep me company and would sit on my knee when I was driving the tractor."
