An orientation procedure has been developed for large-scale orientation of drill core on a stick-by-stick basis and has been shown to work successfully under a variety of conditions. The integration of the drill core with the orientated geophysical images means that a range of services can be provided and valuable data added to the information gained from core logging activities.The use of both the electrical and acoustic tools has proved vital to the successful imaging of the borehole wall and represents a highly cost-effective technique for orientation of the core to geographical coordinates. The electrical tools have proved invaluable in sedimentary formations, whereas the BHTV excelled in highlighting they can provide coverage in all environments likely to be encountered.
