摘要

A series of underground ventilation surveymeasurements was conducted in three drivage headings at Wistowcolliery, England. Two of the surveyed headings were advancedevelopments to create access to future retreat shortfall productionfaces; these headings were ventilated by conventional auxiliary,force-exhaust, overlap systems. The third heading was in a room-and-pillar operation. The general flow characteristics observedduring these surveys are outlined and the observations are thencompared with the flow patterns predicted by a series ofcomputational fluid dynamic (CFD) models, which wereconstructed to simulate the air-flow pattern in each heading. It isconcluded that the CFD models employed were able to reproducethe overall flow characteristics observed underground satisfactorily.
