摘要

In view of the ever increasing demand for materials for high temperature applications. a better understanding of creep behaviour is highly desirable. Such an understanding is possible mainly through creep data obtained by adopting reliable creeping tesing technique. In this article. a comprehensive review of the current status of the testing technique. required major equipment, essential instrumentation. special testing methods and calibration procedure have been provided. Further, a brief survey of the factors influencing the accuracy and reliability of creep data is presented. In recent years. considerable advances have been made in the predication of creep behaviour of methods. The application of graphical methods used for displaying the comparative creep data of different alloys over a range of temperature is discussed. Recently developed analytical methods, like the #theta#-projection concept and the mechanism based approach. CRISPEN which predict the complete creep curve, are also described.
