摘要

In this paper, a fully implicit control volume technique has been presented to solve phase change problems. A source of heat balance error for the numerical solution of phase-change problems has been identified. It has been shown that the conventional heat flux equation for the phase change given by the Stefan condition gives rise to a cumulative heat balance error. This error has been minimised by proposing a modification to the Stefan condition to compute the interface velocity for the classical one phase Stefan problem. The model is based on one-dimensional formulation of the phase change problem and its numerical solution has been realized using the fixed-grid finite difference scheme. The model predictions have been found to be in agreement with analytical solutions.
