BRAZIL: Iluka & Vale Collaborate in Gauging Potential for Anatase Feedstock

In early June, Iluka revealed that it was seriously interested in realising the potential of huge titanium mineral deposits and TKVrich mine tailings stockpiles in the Tapira region of Minas Gerais province (Brazil), about 50 km south of Araxa and 365 km west of Belo Horizonte. The principal titanium mineral is anatase, containing about 95% TiO2, but the deposits also contain ilmenite and perovskite (with lower TiO2 contents), as well as apatite, magnetite and certain lighter and medium rare earth oxide minerals.
