On 1 September 2004,Johnson Matthey pic(of London)announced the completion of the sale of its Pigments & Dispersions(aka Specialty Coatings)business to the Rockwood group(headquartered in Princeton,NJ).The transaction was valued at pound 27 million,payable in cash.The purchaser is actually Rockwood Pigments Ltd.,a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rockwood Specialties.Johnson Matthey had declared its intention to divest its Pigments & Dispersions business last November and a definitive agreement with Rockwood was signed on 23 July,subject to clearance by the German anti-trust authorities.
