Tire testing, pressure monitors Feds, tire manufacturers still wrestling with details

A senior vehicle testing official for the federal government tried to assuage tire indutry worries about upcoming regulations covering tire testing and tire pressure monitoring devices at this year's Clemson Tire Conference. Revisions of federal tire safety standards are due by June 1, 2002, said George Soodoo, division leader in teh Vehicle Dynamics Division of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
