New industry association established in Russia for lighters

The Russian Lighter Importers Association has been established by the leading suppliers in the segment. The association acts as a non-profit-making organisation that proposes initiatives on behalf of its members. The founders of the association are Neska (represents Cricket lighters in the Russian market), Flamagas S.A. (Clipper lighters), Amatti Centre, and BIC which are the market leaders representing the interests of global manufacturers of lighters. The need for members of the business communityto join forces was created by unfavourable economic conditions that formed in the sector. Market participants estimate in excess of 50 per cent of the total number of imported lighters are "grey" import of low-quality products from China. The import potential of lighters safe for consumers will multiply if the flow of counterfeit and non-tax-paying goods diminishes. The main goal of the Lighter Importers Association is to achieve a healthier economy in the sector in co-operation with government agencies.
