Japan's Imports Of Stainless Steel Scrap In April 2007 Renewed Highest In Past Years

According to the statistics released by the Ministry of Finance, the imports of stainless steel scrap into Japan in April of 2007 broken down by discharging ports were as per the tables (1) and (2) attached hereto. Namely, Japan imported 21,032 tons of stainless steel scrap in April of 2007, which had a considerable increase of 52.2 percent compared with that ( 13,813 tons ) in the same month of 2006 and also increased by 13.6 percent compared to that ( 18,507 tons ) in the previous month - March. The substantial quantities of stainless steel scrap were imported from the USA, South Korea and Taiwan into Japan in April of 2007 and, consequently, the total quantity of this scrap imported in April renewed the highest one in the past years.
