Ferro-Nickel Production By Antam In Apr. - Jun. 2006 Increased Considerably

According to a report concerning the production in April - June quarter of 2006 released by Antam of Indonesia, (1) the output of nickel in ferro-nickel in April - June quarter was 4,153 tons as increased by 196 percent compared with that in the same quarter of 2005., (2) but, as announced on the 1st of July, No.3 electric furnace had a leakage of molten metal and it needs 3 months at least for its repairs, which has caused to suspend operation of this furnace with a probability to be unable to resume its operation within this year., and (3) therefore, the quantity of nickel in ferro-nickel to be produced by Antam in the calendar year (January - December) of 2006 has to be revised to 13,000 - 16,000 tons instead of 19,000 tons as initially planned.
