Integrateds' Coated Sheet Export Talks With Japanese-Affiliated Users In Asia

Japanese integrated steelmakers have begun their coated sheet export negotiations with Japanese-affiliated consumer electronics manufacturers operating in Asian destinations, mainly in China, for shipments in the first half (January- June) of 2007. Offered prices in the negotiations represent an increase of 50 US dollars/ton on the whole. Behind the price increase on offer are two main factors: (1)there is a continued advance in zinc costs, and (2)Asian market conditions for galvanized sheets are rebounding.
