Blast Furnace Steel Mills Resuming Hard Coking Coal Negotiations With EVCC

This week Japanese blast furnace steel producers resume contract negotiations on hard coking coal with Elk Valley Coal (EVCC) of Canada, the largest metallurgical coal supplier of this country. Between the blast furnace steel producers and EVCC, hard coking coal negotiations have been held for several times since the end last year, but failed in reaching agreement because EVCC resisted price reduction as proposed by the Japanese consumers.
