Japanese Coated Sheet Exports To China Under Negotiation At 700 dollars FOB

Japanese integrated steelmakers are in negotiations on their coated sheet exports to China at 700 US dollars /ton FOB for GI sheets as building materials and at 680 US dollars /ton FOB for EG sheets for shipments in the April-June quarter of 2004. The GI sheet price on offer equates with the going price level of HR coils plus 200 US dollars. The current HR coil prices are 450-500 US dollars /ton FOB in steel exports out of Japan to the rest of Asia. But there are signs of a slow reaction from local users to a high level of the GI sheet price.
