BHP chooses hydropower for Hartley Platinum Mine

The hydropower plant comprises two independent pump stations, each with two 1 800 kW variable speed pump sets. The specialised high pres-sure pumps for this application were manufactured by Sulzer in Brazil. The automation and drives division of ABB Industry, based in Alrode, South Africa, handling the complete electrical, instrumentation and automation package for the two pump stations.
