Telephone lines set to increase as PTC commissions Mutare exchange

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe last month commissioned the Posts and Telecommunications Corporation's digital exchange in Mutare. The Mutare exchange was the last of five zonal exchanges to be commissioned since the start of the PTC's digitalisation programme in 1985. "The completion of these projects draws us nearer to accomplishing the dream of modernising, expanding and providing adequate telecommunications services to meet the ever-increasing needs of our growing economy and those of our society in general," Mugabe said. The Gweru exchange was the first to be commission in 1985, followed by those in Bulawayo, Masvingo, Harare and then Mutare.
