Dr. Ryan Viator (USDA-ARS Sugarcane Research Unit, Houma, LA) has been selected as a winner of the ARS Research Scientist of the Year Awards Program. The category in which Ryan was honored was "Early Career." He was recognized for the major impact ofhis research, his collaboration with other researchers, his partnerships with stakeholders, and his ability to communicate the impact of his work to other researchers, as well as stakeholders. During his eight-year tenure at the Houma Station, Dr. Viator has based his research on practical and applied projects.
