Crystallographic Texture of High-Temperature Aluminide Coatings Deposited on the Nickel-Based Alloy

Crystallographic textures of intermetallic diffusional layers of NiAl and Ni3Al formed at the surface of a calorized strip of a nickel-based alloy with a cube texture was studied. Different texture types were found depending on the deposition method; i.e., upon vapor impregnation, the texture of the NiAl layer inherits the substrate orientation, whereas in the case of saturation from an aluminum-based condensed phase, it inherits the texture type of this phase. Therefore, the limited and axial textures were, respectively, obtained in the NiAl layers. The Ni_3Al texture is always similar to the texture of the nickel-based substrate. Schemes of matching of the crystal lattices are proposed.
