On the Seventieth Anniversary of the Kurdjumov Institute of Metal Physics and Functional Materials

On December 26, 2002, we noted the 70th anniversary of a widely known metal-science collective in Russia-Kurdjumov Institute of Metal Physics and Functional Materials-which enters into the Federal Scientific Center, Bardin Central Research Institute for the Ferrous Industry. The Dnepropetrovsk Physicotechnical Institute (DPTI), which later was renamed first the Institute of Metallography and Metal Physics and then the Institute of Metal Physics and Functional Materials, was created in 1932 by the decision of the Council of Economy of the USSR with the aim of intensifying scientific research in various fields of engineering physics. For almost forty years, this institute was headed by the outstanding scientist of our country Academician G.V. Kurdjumov.
