Unduly increasing Sulfuric Acid Capacity in East China

The output of phosphate fertilizers in China exceeded 10 million tons in 2004,showing an increase of more than 15.7% over the previous year.As the output still falls short of the demand,the net import amount of NPK (nitrogenous,phosphorus and potassium) compound fertilizers was around 1.8 million tons.Efficient production and timely sales in the phosphate fertilizer market led to a rise in the price of phosphoric acid.While the price of 85% phosphoric acid was RMB5 586 per ton in mid-October 2004,it rose to RMB5 886 per ton in early November,showing a growth as high as 5.4%.
