Queens, N.Y.-based New Reliance Traders, Inc. initiates a voluntary recall of all lots of its Hashmi Surma Special Eyeliner due to high levels of lead that could cause health problems to consumers, particularly infants, small children and pregnant women, FDA announces Nov. 15. Recent analysis revealed that the eyeliner contained lead levels as high as 167,387 parts per million, well beyond the 20 ppm maximum level FDA has set for color additives in cosmetics.
