The implementation of the European Union's new regulation on cosmetic products puts member states on the same page and promotes consumer confidence in the safety of products in the marketplace. Firms manufacturing cosmetic products in or importing to the EU were directed to be fully compliant with the regulation July 11. it was passed in 2009 by the EC, replacing the national cosmetic laws of EU member states and updating the European Cosmetics Directive from 1976 ("Parliament Passes Updated Cosmetics Directive For All 27 European States" - "The Rose Sheet," Mar. 30, 2009).
