Market research firm The NPD Group, Inc. announced that men's fragrance sales led growth in the overall prestige fragrance category in the U.K. and U.S. from November 2012 to October 2013. Sales of men's offerings were up 5% in both regions, helping drive total fragrance sales in the U.S. up 2% to $3 billion and sales in the U.K. up 2% to $1.95 billion (£1.2 billion). Women's juices for the period were up 2% in both the U.S. and U.K., while women's gift sets in the U.S. inched up 1% and climbed 4% in the U.K. Men's gift sets for the period were up 2% in the U.S. and 1% in the U.K. NPD's Karen Grant, VP and senior global industry analyst, notes that consumers are responding to perceived value in both juices and gift sets.
