With the EU marketing ban in full force for cosmetic products and ingredients tested on animals, the European Commission is hoping to serve as a model for other regions and is committed to supporting global efforts to end animal testing in the cosmetics sector. "Europe has a unique chance to demonstrate how responsible innovation in cosmetics can be achieved," said Tonio Borg, commissioner for EU Health & Consumer Policy, in a video that went live on the EC's website March 11, the day the ban came into effect.
