European Commission Seeks Cosmetic Nanotech Experts For Committee Work

The European Commission invites nanotechnology experts to register for inclusion in its database of per-sons who may be consulted by its Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety when performing safety assessments on nanomaterials in cosmetic products. Beginning in January 2013, firms will be required to notify the EC of cosmetic products containing nanomaterials six months prior to market launch, providing information about their characteristics and safety, under the 2009 recast of the European Cosmetics Directive.
