Insulin without injections draws closer

Oral formulations of insulin can effectively decrease blood glucose,results of a proof-of-concept study presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes conference last week show.Tim Heise,of the Profil Institute for Metabolic Research,Neuss,Germany,presented data from eight people with type 2 diabetes showing that the formulation,in which insulin is combined with a carrier developed by Emisphere Technologies,reduced fasting blood glucose.
