The theologian Richard Hooker remarked in 1597 that music is "a thing which delighteth all ages,and beseemeth all states;a thing as seasonable in grief as in joy".And,as Lorenzo whispers to Jesica in 'The man that hath no music in himself/Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds/Is fit for treasons,stratagems,and spoils".
