On 1 December 2010, C. elongata in association with Agrilus coxalis on Quercus agrifolia was found near the Pine Creek Trailhead, Cleveland National Forest in San Diego, California, USA. Additional collections of C. elongata pupae were made on 19 January 2011 in Noble Canyon Trailhead in Cleveland National Forest and on 19 December 2011 in Pine Creek Trailhead. This is thought to be the first record of C. elongata for California.
