Seventy miles west of the Louisiana state line lies the small town of White Oak, Texas. Home to roughly 6,500 people and surrounded by wide-open spaces, it's also home to Energy Weld-fab. The company occupies a 30-acre compound and a nearly 130,000-square-foot facility in which roughly 200 people work two shifts a day to fabricate enormous pressure vessels for the oil and gas industry. Metal is bent and welded, holes and edges cut, pipes fitted together, and vessels are finished and painted. These products aren't just for the domestic market-the company has customers all over the world.
