摘要

The manufacturing execution system (MES) has outlived its original definition, according to "Manufacturing Operations Management: The Next Generation of Manufacturing Systems," a new study conducted by the Aberdeen Group, Boston. Facing market changes and competitive threats, manufacturers are expanding their focus from execution within a single facility or factory to operations management across the supply network, the research states. As a result, best-in-class (BIC) manufacturers are turning to technologies that manage operations across maintenance, production, quality, and inventory. The goal is to improve utilization of assets and materials, as well as to maximize team-focused continuous improvement efforts.
