Colonial Saw Inc. offers the Micron 650 slot grinding machine, which sharpens high-speed steel circular saw blades with chip breaker slots. A chip breaker slot blade is similar to a normal curved tooth (B form) but has a small alternating slot ground in the top of each tooth. The slot serves a purpose similar to that of a bevel tooth-it allows the cut to produce smaller chips. With a chip breaker blade, both sides of every tooth are involved in cutting. A blade with chip breaker slot teeth has extended blade life between sharpenings, allows more sharpenings per blade, provides burr-free finish cuts, and accommodates faster feed rates.
