New-generation vehicle designs likely will require the use of high-strength steel (HSS) hydrofornied components. One common barrier to more wide-spread use of hydroformed components is the difficulty of producing tubes with satisfactory seam welds, regardless of whether they are made using high-frequency welding, laser, or another method. This difficulty is particularly true in HSS applications.
