Many cutting applications have additional considerations and requirements. These include difficult-to-cut materials, very thin-walled tube, very short cut lengths, and scrap minimization. Difficult-to-cut Materials. Examples of materials that can be difficult to cut include stainless steel, INCONEL~R alloy, MONEL~R alloy, Kovar~R, HASTELLOY~R, titanium, tungsten, molybdenum, hardened linear bars, and case-hardened parts. Another good candidate for abrasive cutting is tube that must be cut cleanly without serious distortion, especially thin-walled tube. Abrasive cutting also is suitable for tube that requires a high-quality cut surface so that a secondary deburring operation is not required.
