Hainan 600,000 t/a methanol project approved

Hainan 600,000 t/a methanol project was approved by the State Council recently, involving an aggregate investiment of RMB 1.098 bn. The project will be sited in Hainan Dongfang City Basuo Town Industrial Developent Zone, occupying and area of 10.3 hectares, and neighboring the CNOOC natural gas-based fertilizer unit in the north. The project will consume around 890 million cubic meters of natural gas per year, which will be provided by Dongfang 1-1 gas field. THe needed water, electricity, utilities and auxiliary production equipment for the project construction and production will be resolved by relying on the neighboring CNOOC natural gas-based fertilizer unit.
