How refractories helped revolutionise the flat glass industry

Over 50 years ago Pilkington introduced its 'Float process' - a development that revolutionised the flat glass industry. It allowed the manufacture of larger, higher quality flat glass plates for, buildings and all types of vehicles, at higher tonnages and lower cost than previously possible. Today, 'Float' accounts for over 90% of the world's demand for flat glass: there are over 400 Float glass lines - producing over 50 million tonnes a year.
