摘要

Here's a question – what exactly are we all trying to do? Of course, there's no simple answer to that, but perhaps one that would come close for many of us would be this – we are trying to make a difference. For people who care about children's literature, that difference can take many forms. Ultimately, we are trying to improve a student's life chances. We don't just want them to be able to read well, but to take that skill and develop it, apply it and achieve fulfilment of their potential through it. The pleasure of books in itself is a worthy goal, but when the knock-on effects start to filter through to other areas of achievement, then we really are making a difference.
